I've never been on the passenger train but the highway pretty much skirts it so I can tell you the first 700 miles are going to be pretty boring scenic wise and then it will get real exiting once you get past Browning.
Taking the train is a total hoot. Fred is spot on, you get to meet folks and just relax and watch scenery float by. It is a great way to travel if you have the time. Totally stress free.

Hi Guys....I'm back in town. Got home around 2pm today. Holy moly was it cold today. At home here it was -25 and felt like -40 with the windchill this morning. It was a little warmer at our son's place. Good drive home and stopped halfway to get some lunch. Sure am glad to be home.
Had 3 neighbours cleaning my driveway as we got a fair amount of snow.
Good bunch of guys...one being 80 yrs old but can still swing a snow shovel. I have to fix his snowblower for him now. Anyway...good to be back and in touch with you all.
Glad to have you back Mark.

Hey Mark hope your having a good time.
We had a good time with the grandsons Fred. My son said he won't be going back to Mexico again. He said there were loads of heavily armed soldiers everywhere. There are lots of murders but the government is keeping it quiet so not to harm the tourist trade. He said while he was on a bus tour a shop owner yelled out "Come in so I can rip you off, I have a wall to pay for you know". Everyone laughed on the bus.

I have no idea how many trips on the train I took that way SLO but every trip was great.
I would think you made a few also.

Looks like Mexico is not going to be on my vacation list.
Glad your son made it home in one piece Mark.

So Fred, do you get on the train at Devils Lake? Where do you get off, Everett?

So sorry to hear about your cousin Fred. Be good to get away from the cold.
Thanks FOG. Not wanting to travel but is always fun on the train if there is people that like to strike up a conversation with a stranger. And the kids are great to talk to as long as mom and dad don't care and the kid is not a butt hole. lol

Sorry to hear about your cousin Fred. I guess I missed that while trying to catch up. What happened?

Hey BP doing the last bit of using por-15 in the back side of my car and now using the metal prep and then rinsing it off with water and letting it dry before I put the Por-15 on I was wondering if a guy should use wax and grease remover after the metal prep.

I'm sure it still does. I guess the prices have jumped lately. The last time my step mom went to Portland it was not much more money to fly. At least that what she said anyway. She plays like shes broke all of the time.

Cant answer that Fred. I think not because that would wipe of the phosphorus coating. I don't use metal prep but probably should. I just make sure its damned clean and wipe with a good paper towel with virgin lacquer thinner until the paper towel doesn't show any dirt. Or that stupid expensive alcohol based final wash. I think that metal prep really messes with me cause I have sooo much iron in my water.
And, some of those grease and wax removers leave an oily residue. Just not sure.
Something I fight with in my head a lot.

G nite Mark. Glad to see you stop back.
Fred, they have built a new train station down by the Tacoma Dome it is nice. It is where we have been going in and out of. Just recognize the neighborhood a couple three blocks away has become very rough. Bars on windows burnt cars etc. translated don't wander far from train station. Get your rental car and boogie!

Most real old people are that way I think BP. I think my train ride will be 175 round trip but need to get one of my kids to check for sure.

Same here BP are water is high in just about everything I can think of and should rinse it with distilled water I guess but what the hell I rinsed it with tap water and blew it out with the air hose and taking the heat gun to it next.
Like you said before will last my life time and the kids will still be able to drive it after I'm gone so what is the worry.

I did some more reading and it appears that you just go at it after rinsing and drying like you are doing. They say the flash rust even helps. Or the white powdery part is the zinc phosphate is ok too. You just dont want too much and that is why you rinse it.
