Replacing the cab corner on a 2019 ford 3/4 ton. Been slow going waiting for the tools to remove and install the rivets.
Cheep tools came today so got it apart.

this one puts the rivets in and rivets are self piercing so no drilling holes.

This is the main type of rivet to put the truck back togather.

And this is the tool to take them out, that you can see the threads striped out.
Cheap tools like 80 bucks a pace. The best are 4,500 about.

The panels are also glued on and a propane touch with a little heat an off the panel goes.
Seems Mickey mouse to me but this is gonna be the standard on all cars I'm told.

BP you do any of this yet? all new to me. I made a few mistakes and trying to drill out the rivets is real hard on drill bits.

No I have not. I miss learning the new techniques but I always worked for somebody that would pony up for the better tools. Not much help here Fred. Did you get your new uniside? Looks like you have a new inner. I couldn't imagine doing that without the pneumatic riveter. Ford should be helping.

Yea got the skin and Ford said to splice it kinda like you see in the picture I screwed up on the upper cut but got that figured out. Gonna have to do some tig welding in a few spots but still OK. They make some regular type rivets to go in the hard to reach spots and the panel bonding glue we will use is better than factory so should be good.

Hey Fred. Is Ford wanting a sleeve up there or are they asking for a but weld.

Agreed. In the collision repair world, this is not a big job. The learning curve slows it down a bit but no stroke for Fred.
Learning is good but not really wanting to at my age. lol
If it was steel would have been done by now and with my eyes closed but self piercing rivets?
