First thing i caught was a feral cat. It was not a happy camper. Little peanut butter should work. If you are trying to catch a "cagey" animal, I'll block the trigger open so it will not close the trap for a week or so so they get used to it then WAMMO!!! I know, I know, I'm not Murry lol How big is the trap?
Small just big enough for a Squirrel or a small rabbit. I been baiting the damn things with peanuts and they like them.
Good idea on holding the trap open till they get use to going in. I'll try that. Thanks Charlie.

Crystal used dry cat food and sardines. Mixed gets cats, coons and possums. Why do I sound like Uncle Jed?

I did not realize until recently that it is illegal to trap squirrels and release them in a different location. You can kill them but you cant relocate them. I guess they usually starve to death when yuo do that. Thats the law in MT anyway.

I have no Idea here but the ones in my yard will be dead after all the problems they caused.
I like animals and I don't hunt for sport, just trying to protect my garden.

My BIL has wiener dogs (Dachshund). They are squirrel killing machines. They are faster than you would think.

Speaking of skunks ever since they legalized pot here the damn things took up driving on the freeways. I can smell them all of the time driving into the city and out.

Sitting on triple digit heat index until at least Weds. Still out of the drought, so that's a plus.

There was a huge turnout at the funeral home yesterday. They only do it once a year but they put on a great show.
It started at 11am and I was there at 9:30 and half the lot was full already.
We managed to find a shady spot by the building and we did have a breeze but still hot.
A lot of prizes but I didn't win anything.
I left at 2 and was dragging my butt. Had a snooze for an hour.
Our usual Monday night cruise tonight but going to be really hot again today.
Have a great day guys

Hey Murry I just got a live trap for catching Squirrels, any suggestions on how to set it up?
Only live trap I’ve ever used is my homemade skunk trap. It has a rocker table for a floor. Door propped open sardines on far side of rocker table. Skunk walks in trips the table, door slams shut and locks. Trap is made from plywood small enough so it can’t lift its tail, with a small hole in door so I know it isn’t someone’s cat. Then stand trap on end and put garden hose in. Problem solved. Imagine it would be similar for squirrels.

I set the trap up last night and sprinkled a few peanuts around it and put a hand full in the trap. Also some peanut butter Chex cereal.
