The only time I’ve ever had a problem with the starter is when I had 12.4 to 1 pistons in it. Chrysler starters of those years are geared. If you don’t have to run aviation fuel then a good brand name starter will do for many years. Do you have an inspection pan or plate. It is good to check drive alignment with flywheel. Can be corrected with washers. Usually not an issue but have seen.High torque starter is recommended. I have one on my and it spins that engine over real nice
i am assumming Rock auto would be a go to for this...mark..do ya think crapper Tire would carry these?I second the high torque starter, smaller, and a little bit lighter too.
ahhhhh linc..lol.... i'll go to singh hortons right after that!Rock Auto would be a good start, but the shipping costs might be a bit high, unless you need several other items and can get them all shipped from one location. Canuckistan Tire is not a bad choice either.

Chances are you’re old starter just needs bushing’s, brushes and a new drive. I’m lucky enough to have a guy in town that rebuilds them along with alternator’s and generator’s. 1/3 the cost of canuckistan tire.ahhhhh linc..lol.... i'll go to singh hortons right after that!![]()
yup..there is a guy that rebuilds alternators/starters here is Hamasasauga as well. Not going to worry about it until after christmas. i want to start restoring my father in laws (RIP) 1962 Vespa like i promised my wife and her 3 sisters years ago. Nice project for my son and I over the cold winter monthsChances are you’re old starter just needs bushing’s, brushes and a new drive.
