Well, it looks like I didn't do my homework on leaf springs. I ordered springs from ESPO, XHD +1", and the front hangers from Mancini. I was going over my hardware and noticed the hangers are for 5/8" bolt and my leaf springs have 1/2" bolts. Is it possible to just swap out the bushings that use a 5/8" bolt? If so, what application would I need to look up to source them? Dang, I thought I had everything in order, but somehow I missed this. I've done some searching, and am kind of confused at this point as to which bushing I would need. 2" bushing-5/8" bolt? 1 7/8" bushing-5/8" bolt? Not sure where to measure, poly, rubber... I think I'd like to stick with rubber. Anyway, I appreciate any help I can get, thanks!

Hey scamper, I had a related problem recently. I bought used hangers and afterwards found out that my orig hangers took 5/8" bolt and the used ones I bought took a 3/8" bolt. My car is a 69 cuda 340 car. Maybe you ordered 340 hangers?? Is your car a 340 car?? I got my bushings from a local spring shop, they had my leafs and were re-arching them, so I had them order new bushings up. If you give a local spring shop a call they can get them for you. My springs re-arched and with new bushings was only $100. Good luck, hope it helps. Here is a link to a thread I started, when I noticed the difference.

Hi 4spdragtop, actually my problem is the exact opposite of what yours is, LOL. When I bought the car, I was told all the running gear came from a 75 Dart. The front eye bolts on both the old and new springs are 1/2". The hangers are 5/8" and are listed as A-body on Mancini's website, but I didn't catch where they said for 5/8" bolt. They were the only ones listed for A-bodies, and I didn't check my old ones before I ordered. I was looking at the fact that they were adjustable. http://chucker54.stores.yahoo.net/mabospha.html I did find your thread when I did a search. I guess I could just reuse my old hangers but I'd rather not do that, as I can't return the new hangers.

I would like you said keep the new hangers, as they are adjustable and they also take the bigger bolt. I would get new bushings to take the 5/8 bolt. Call a local spring shop. Or call Mancinis direct.

Most aftermarket springs use the larger bolt size. Just get new spring bushings installed in your springs and you're ready to go.

Thanks guys, I just got off the phone with ESPO. I ordered new bushings and they should be here in a few days. I had no idea about the eye bolt difference. Something to keep in mind for those who are thinking about swapping leaf springs and/or hangers. I searched the forum, and online and came up with very little info, but maybe I wasn't looking in the right places?

I just went through the same thing. On my 64, it used the small 1/2 inch front bolts. I bought Mancini SS springs also, and found that they were 5/8. I am going to re-drill my boxes (relo) for the 5/8 bolts and call it good. Like you, I found very little info on this. Now that we are talking about it, the next folks should have it easier...8)

Thanks,
