Leaking tire plug repair

-
You can usually tell when reaming or inserting if the tire is damaged too badly to hold the plug.

Either you don't feel the knurls contacting anything, or the plug pushes the belt down, away from the rubber.

Both indicate either there's not enough belt to hold the plug, or the belt has separated from the rubber.

The over inflating step helps you feel the belt, and provides resistance to get past it and the depth correct.

...and be prepared to stop fast, as soon as you feel the resistance let up, otherwise.....do over. (although I have at least twice, saved by pulling the plug back up through the belt and the tread- usually with a twisting action so the plug stays in the inserter tool)
