Led flush mounted Duster tail lights, thoughts please?

I have had the privilege of owning and working on a Demon and a few other Dusters over the years, and have recently purchased yet another 73' Duster to play with. With this car I want to do it different then anything I have ever done and do a full custom, pro touring build. This new project car was a good deal so I bought it albeit a later 73' model, problem being I like the dual 71' Duster tail lights better. The thought crossed my mind to just change the tail pan and be done with it but I came up with another idea to use led flush mounted tail lights made for street rods. I am thinking the same dual pattern as the 71' tail lights only skinnier, longer, and brighter.

Question is how long should I do, should I do two strips the full length across the tail pan? What do you guys think of these ideas? Pictures attached for reference and ideas, please excuse the wild first picture it is not my car!

almost looks like a 70 challenger with squinty tail lights ....if the the led lights were taller it could look a lot like a 70 challenger ....with a twist

I'm okay with flush LED taillights, but I think I'd prefer two or three strips per side, rather than just one. They need more surface area to fill the taillight panel.

Ever thought of using the new (2012-13, you get the idea) charger tail lights? They're led and a factory part so finding parts won't be hard.

Think of Either Newer Charger taillights with LEDS or new Challenger taillights and get LED boards to replace the bulbs

Your car, do as you chose.......but I would NEVER want something so FUGLY on the tail end of my car....

Good concept using LEDs, I would build an assembly out of two of them for each side and separate them with a 1/2" strip and mimic the original 70-72 taillights. So you have a variation on the theme not a reinvention of the wheel

Thanks for all of the replies, I agree that first picture is awesome in a bad sort of way, I thought it would get a few laughs! Does anyone have the width and length of the stock 71' tail lights available? As of now I am thinking dual led's on each side, similar to stock only much longer, I found a supplier that offers them in 6" long increments 1/2" wide up to 3 feet long.

Just pointing this out. Are you sure you're talking about the the correct year? 70-71 are the same while 72 was different and one year only. Just pointing that out.
