Limiting advance on points disty.

Can someone give me a little beta on how best to limit total timing
advance on a points (single) distributor? I'd like to increase my base
to about 18 before but when I do, I get some ping under load. Not
sure what my max goes to.

You need to take the advance plate out of the distributor and weld up some of the slot. They are stamped with the amount of advance they have. So I use that as the guide for how much i need to reduce the slot by.
