Lock strip corner covers on rear early Barracuda glass

I'm getting ready to install my original rear glass in my '65 FS. I have the lockstrip reproduction from Classic Industries, and it fits, but lacks the bottom right and left corner covers. Classic also sells these:

I have the original metal covers, but they do not fit the profile of the lockstrip sold today, because of the different outside round profile, not the original indented type. One of the suppliers of the lock strip on eBay shows installation information in his listing on an early Barracuda (see below) and recommends cutting the ends of the lockstrip in the bottom corners so that the ends come together at the proper angle, then gluing them together, which looks fine in the pictures shown with his instruction sheet. Has anyone tried the Classic Industries corner covers? Do they fit properly over the new lock strip? There are no written reviews on the Classic industries site for the (pricey) corner pieces, but they look like they would fit the new lockstrip profile. Would appreciate feedback from anyone using either method for recommendations.

Not sure about the new lock strips but the strips I installed on my car yrs ago shrunk a bit. I would still use the corners if possible

Did you use the newer style lockstrip? What did you use in the lower corners, if anything?

Back in the day I bought locking strip for 72 Chev pickup? Been a while. Did rear and front window, used the original corner pieces. The windshield just butts in the bottom center and there is a gap after a few yrs. Car is inside a lot but it still looks great other than small gap

If you were able to reuse the original rear window bottom corner pieces, they must have fit. I have heard about the '72 Chev pickup lock strip fitting, but it may be different from what is sold now. Having written that, the OER package my replacement strips came in states " '63-'91 windshield lockstrip". The lockstrip comes with a metal cover for the bottom of the windshield, but nothing for the rear except the same as the front, which is not useable in the rear.

The Chev locking strip was ever slightly narrower. My car is a 66, I may have a few used ones.

Yes, the strip I have from Classis Ind. is a bit narrower as well. I have both of the original rear window bottom pieces, but they don't fit because of the profile difference.

Worked on these new. Customers would come back with moldings badly shrinking after only 2/3 years. We would have to cut the strips on the sides and install long straight clips.

Murray, Thanks for that info. I am concerned about shrinkage too. I'm thinking of ordering the the covers from Classis Industires and see how well they fit. They would allow for shrinkage unlike the butt joint.
