i have a 65 dodge dart 270 four door slant six 225 automatic. the shifter is on the steering column and there is a cable the attaches to the transmission to shift it. i want to know here i can get a diagram of what is inside my steering column and what the cable attaches to

You'll probably have to get a factory service manual for a good diagram. If it still together, peel back the rubber boot and take a look....maybe take a few photos. There are actually 2 cables that attach inside. A shift cable and a park cable.
