I have a pair of cast-iron magnum heads that will work. They're pedestal-mount type though instead of shaft-mounted.

PM me for more details.

Jason, depending on what your looking to do, performance wise, the head selection can varry.

The above Magnum heas do well from a bone stock feel to a nice street light bandit power plant.

Stock heads are not to bad ethier. They can power the car well. But like I said, depends on what your target is.

Dont know what cheap is to you,but if I was building a 360 short block I would go straight to www.aeroheadracing.com and pick up a pair of either there $499.00 heads with the 2.02 valves, or spend the extra $100.00 and get a set of the select casting (915 or 587) heads. Thats for a pair, complete. Not bad at all for a fresh set of trick heads complete.
I have a very good 360 write up from Car Craft mag using these heads on a Mopar Performance 360 short block, making 375hp without to much trouble.

I have a set of 587's gathering dust if your interested ...
These are cores they would need to be rebuilt , 65.0-73.0 "open" combustion chamber 1.88 / 1.60 valves .

all i want is a streetable car that has decent power. not really fimiliar with mopar to much, but im thinking about those magnum heads. what would need to be done to get these on the 75 block? will a 340 intake work with this setup? will i need a new cam or no? im trying to make this as cheap as possible at the moment.

just found a newer 92 318. this is the magnum motor and the guy says it has like 70k. will i need a special intake to fit a carb on this motor? any othr problems i might have putting this in my 74 valiant?

thanks jason

I'm working at putting a 96 5.9 magnum into my 71 dart. Its not a big deal but there are a few small things to look out for. Carbed intakes are not hard to find, but, you will need a long snout camshaft or an adapter to run a mechanical fuel pump. Or, run an electric one. You will have to run the LA timing cover to complete this system which means you will have to run an LA accessory system. This is a start.

it will need Magnum heads and Magnum intake.

MoPar has the M-1's in dual or single plane. Crosswinds has a dual bolt pattern intake that will bolt to either Magnum or older standard LA heads.

If you want to use standard LA heads on a Magnum block, you'll need to drill the oil passages in the block for the head oiling.

Magnum heads on a LA block are a bolt on witout worry deal.

I'm not to up to date on the motors mouting system for the Magnum.

moper or DGC333 could tell you in a heart beat flat. I keep forgetting.

OH, and what he said .... 71Dartguy .... good post.

If your looking for cheapest then the magnums are not the way to go. You will need a magnum intake or yours redrilled to fit. You will need new pushrods, valve covers, thermostat housing, and probably a few more things I missed. You should really look at the 599$ heads metioned above. With that setup your old rockers and pushrods will go right in if they are still good. All you will need is a gasket kit.

i planned on using my old acc. anyways, but what is the reason that i cant use the magnums? im pulling the a.c. out of my car, so will i need different bracket for a no a.c. setup?

Reverse rotation water pump on the magnum motors will seriously hurt the coolant flow through the engine.

i found a junk yard that will run and test the motor before you buy it. they have many years of motors. im looking at a 360 out of a 90 dodge ram 4x4. this isnt the magum correct? it will fit the older intakes? they do also have a newer durango that i might look at, but i thought the motor might be to new to swap. up to what year motors will swap in? the motor mounts change in what years if at all?

The 1990 motor will not be a magnum, but will have a roller cam setup. LA intakes will bolt right up to it. The durango motor should be a magnum, just be sure its not a 4.7 liter because they are a different animal. If it is a 5.2 or 5.9, you can swap it in. The magnums have an extra set of bosses so you can mount them into trucks, but the old ears are still cast into the block for the pass cars.

I wouldnt touch Aeroheads with a 10ft pole. To many horror stories. EQ Magnum heads would be my #1 choice. Just wish I could use a set of stock manifolds with them.
