What are the UBS codes

That is trim code
H = High trim grade.
4 = Vinyl Split Bench
5 = ? probably a 6
6 = Vinyl Bucket Seats
7 = Vinyl and Cloth Bucket Seats
X = Black

U = Upper door frame color
B = Buffed paint
S = Stripe (but not in all cases)

John,

What do these codes say (68 fender tag)?

T R M......P N T........U B S
H 6 V.......R R 1....... R...W

Russ

For 68 codes

TRM: H = HIGH, 6= vinyl bench or bucket seats, V= white seat red carpet

PNT: RR1 Burgundy metallic 1 = mono tone paint (one color)

U: Upper door frame paint= red
B: buffed paint (none)
S: stripes W= white

As Norshor stated.

H = High Trim Grade, I believe all 2nd gen B-cudas were H trim grade.
6 = Vinyl Bucket seats (b with a 4 will also verify bucket seats)
V = white on red interior.

UBS = as above

Now my 67 Has
PNT UDS
LL4BB
Dark Turquoise Metallic w/Black Racing Stripe and Black Upper door frame color. So the stripe (first B) show up differently then others for some reason.

Thank you, I got it all now. The only thing left on my fender tag I need explained is the 6 digit order number located just right of the build date. What does this number signify? On 69's and up this would be the last digits of the VIN, not so on 68's.

Russ

The build number or S.O. Number (Shipping Order) or VON number (Vehicle Order) is a number assigned to the vehicle. I have not found any metric as to how it was assigned.
I will say 68 and prior the SO Number should be part of the ID stamp on the body top left core support and left trunk ledge etc.

For example 72C0234464.
7 model year 1967
2 signifies for a Hamtramck built car.
C02 is a month and day in this case December 02
Dates: 1- 9 is Jan- Sept the letter used for Oct - Dec would be A, B, C
The remaining 5 numbers would be the S.O. or VON Number and this should match up with the fender tag and body stamps.
