I just started hanging metal ceiling panels this past weekend (first 2 rows of 8 are completed), but I can't help but think ahead and wonder about overhead storage along the walls. In some of my past garages I've used old kitchen "upper" cabinets, but since this will probably be the last space I'll build-out, I'd like to "up my game" and get something nice. Don't know what that means exactly ("nice"), but mismatched kitchen cabinets are no longer an option. Time to put-up some "adult" cabinets.

But I don't want to break the bank, either....

Anyone care to chime-in with your thoughts, opinions, and/or advice on what I can use along this wall? 10 foot ceiling, if it matters.

Thanks!

Jim

Edit/add: I should probably add that the opposite wall will have an 8' work bench, with peg board surrounded by cabinets (above and both sides) as well.

Maybe find some smooth surfaced kitchen style cabinets and then you can have a custom vinyl wrap printed to cover them in whatever look that you like... photos of your cars, logos, grunge metal look or whatever. And then you can always rewrap them later on if your taste changes.

Office furniture liquidators, i build office furniture and tear down office spaces everyday you can find good deals or free. This is what my cabinets look like if you were closer i would donate. Counter tops and all when they go bad i just replace for free. Everything is hung on a cleat easy to install and remnove.

Same space after tops installed, thats the wife helping with the 4post install.

what about "industrial" shelving hung upside down? attach the "bottom" of the legs to the ceiling and build down from there. with shelves upside down, they would have a lip around them so earthquakes won't rattle items off. I got mine everytime work decided to change a layout and we don't need this stuff laying around.

trying to find a picture but maybe "Edsal" was the name? Craigslist probably have some listed.
may also be Equipto.

Cheap and 'adult' probably won't come easy, but check out marketplace.

Sometimes you can find old metal kitchen cabinets cheap, other times people want vintage prices for them (Youngstown, Geneva, St. Charles). Also consider hanging them using a French cleat so that you can reconfigure them easily.
