Thanks! My new axe aint no wimpy Gretsch though. To quote one review of the guitar Im getting: " This thing is straight from hell.Are you man enough?".

LOL,my new axe is an Epiphone Tony Ionni signature series sg400.It has the same pickups as the Gibson sg for A LOT less money.

For those that dont know,Tony was the lead for Black Sabbath...here he is layin it down.

Shows you what I know about guitars, lol! I don't play but I have a great respect for those who do.

i looked at them a bit online. I bought an epiphone last fall and trying to learn to play by tab online. I have no intention of ever playing for anyone, but its fun to learn a riff that i like to hear. I dont know much about guitars, so i can't tell much about quality, but mine is good enough for me.

here i am trying to play a riff over and over

note the concentration, the guitar supposively on the wrong leg, and the darts hood behind me




i swear, this site is the reason i get anything done on my car,
but at the same time the reason i don't get much done...

I don't mean to rain on your parade here, but as you likely know, Epi's are inexpensive guitars for *ahem* students... bolt-on necks, lesser grade wood (not always, but usually) cheaper hardware and electronics, all of which combined yields a rather generic tone. Plus they're made in Ko-Ree-Ya if that means anything to ya.

If you had a "real" Gibson SG in your hand you'd immediately know the difference, just by feel. 8)

Actually that is about the only way you can comfortably play a Les Paul style git on your lap. Otherwise the it's too far back and feels awkward to me, but then again I have Fenders and haven't spent much time behind an LP.

Guitars and Mopars! It doesn't get much better than that.

It's the fixed nonadjustable bridge....mostly. Can't get this thing set up for squat.

Course, I paid nothing for it, so I've got little room to *****.

The LP is my pride and joy, the MM is a recent additiion and I love it. I've had the Marshall for almost 20 years, it's an amazing piece of equipment. I use the EQ with it, really drives the signal makes incredible crunch - I don't use anything else with it.

I use the distortion pedals with the Champ. that little thing screams with only one 10" speaker, I swear it's a junior Marshall.

Taken me a long time to arrive at this point - have had many guitars, amps and pedals over the years but I'm basically content with what I have.

I disagree sir. The Tony sg has a glued slimline neck and pickups designed by Mr Iommi himself, maple body and neck...there may be some things like a metal pedal I will need to add to get the sound I want. Overall this epiphone is very good. The only real drawback is it's weight. 17 lb's!

Sometimes you can find a real "diamond in the rough".


Anyways,a Gibsons way out of my budget. If they want me to buy a Gibson they better lower the freakin price! Like that's gonna happen...

Sounds like you've done your homework. Perhaps I'm wrong, maybe Epi's are better quality these days. I'm sure it's a decent guitar for the money. It does get good reviews on Musician's Friend.

17lbs is nothing man, my LP might be over 25! I swear my left shoulder muscle is better developed than my right. Means it's a solid chunk 'o wood, no doubt.

I am though of the opinion that you should get the best equipment you can. But hey, it's better to get something and play than have nothing and sit there like a bump on a log!

rmchrger;Thanks and yes I research every musical item I buy. I kinda have to. Im a lefty and theres generally never any axes to play with in store. This one was special order for someone else who never came to get it. They wanted to move the guitar so I got a sweet deal. I checked it out really well first. Did the same with my Seagull S6 before I ordered and hit the nail on the head with that one! Great beginner guitar but I've gone as far as I can go with it. I played extensively when I was younger but it kinda fell by the wayside for 20 years or so. Back into it now and lovin it!

Here's an amazing creation by Warrior.

My brother is a professional percussionist (drummer) and his band has some killer equipment.
One of the guitarists owns a Warrior guitar shop and sells high end sound equipment.
I got a chance to play his $5-k warrior that he put an extra $2-k into upgrades on it.
I was afraid to touch it after he told me how much it cost but I did anyways since he insisted.
Needless to say the notes and bends melted like butter on the fretboard.

His guitar was a purplish color with tints of red and white, absolutely gorgeous and the other guitarist had a blueish guitar with white and purple melds of color.
Man, those things are like the Kimber-arms pistol of guitars.
