I am building an 8 3/4 rear and need to know a few things.

I have a 9 1/4 rear that has the heavy duty drum brakes. I was wondering if the backing plates and all the brake parts will work on the 8 3/4?

Also wondering if Green bearings are the way to go? I was looking at this kit and thinking it may be the way to go.

And if so, do I need these special nuts for them?

Also, I need to find U bolts and the shock brackets for the 8 3/4. Anyone know where to get them?

Thanks, Jeremy

Brakes will work provided bolt pattern is correct.

That's the green kit to get.

Don't need "special" nuts for the greens.

You'll get opinions all over the board on the green bearings. I think they are an inferior design compared with the factory tapered roller bearings. That being said, the green bearings seem to hold up fairly well for most applications.

The funny thing about the green Bearings are the exact same style as a 9" ford, I've beat the living **** outta those rearend and have never had one leak from there. Did get one leaking out the pinion support seal but that rear had about 330k with only gear oil changes and nothing else.

What Cracked said. That first link is to Cass's (Dr.Diff) eBay auction. He wouldn't sell anything that was junk or unsafe...

.........Don't 4get on a ford 9 in that they have a pin in the center of the diff to keep the side loading to a minimum......the mopars with the spool or suregrip without the buttons have no support at all.......kim........
