OK, I am attempting to assemble a bastardized basket case and need lots of help...:pale: The car is a '72 Demon that was originally a 6. The current owner has purchased a 360 for it. I have included pics of the engine. He is supposed to be ordering conversion motor mounts from Schumacher but I'm wondering if the oil pan is going to fit ? Looks like it probably could but NO ONE that works at this shop knows what the engine is from. Might be from a D100 ?
I think the transmission is a 904 but has weights on the converter and a stock replacement flex plate for a 74 Dart 360 matches the bolt holes on the converter. The engine is on a stand and I can't test fit the plate to the crank, but I assume it's correct since it's for a 360.
There's also a pic of PS brackets that are supposed to be for a 360 and I'm not even gonna start asking about the wiring yet.
Someone pulled the blower motor off and left the wheel in the heater. I see it is a slip fit but there is no way to get at the wheel from the interior to push it back away from the housing after the motor is re-mounted...#-o
The springs on the hood hinges had been released to lower the arm and I took a pic to ask how to get the spring back on but I may have solved that. I removed the entire hinge and put the arm in a vise and wound the the spring back to the pin with a pliers. My only concern is that I can't move the arm by hand and am wondering if that is normal or if I went the wrong way with the spring. Didn't seem to make sense to wind it the other way at the time...:???:
Anyway, that's enough q's for now. I'll let you experts study the pics and tell me what I need to do.....thanks

Like that stripe ???

WOW!! That is one UGLY stripe!!! Goodness gracious!!

I can tell you that the oil pan will not work for sure. You will also need to remove the under dash unit to get the fan back together.

You are far too polite......it is just plain fugly. The painter asked the owner if he wanted a stripe and he agreed. This is what he got...#-o

Notice there is no fuel cap either ?? He was also talked into shaving that, removing the tank and installing a fuel cell in place of the rusted out tire well.
I was afraid of needing to remove the heater box for the fan. I was hoping there was some secret handshake access door for this....](*,)
I'll also see if I can get their parts guy to look for an used pan. Might work to place an ad on here too.

TMP - I don't believe you will have to take the underdash heater box out to get to the fan. You may want to for other reasons, but not for the fan. Look close at the fan housing that sticks out into the engine bay. There should be 3 small sheet metal screws. Remove those and that outer ring will come out which allows removal of the fan.
On assembly, that outer ring is attached to the ring shown in your pics above and the fan & motor attaches as a unit from the engine bay.

That's the secret handshake I was hoping for....I saw those 3 screws. THANK you !!! Now, the rubber ring around the blower motor....is it supposed to be bigger and overlap the outer ring somehow ? It seems too small to seal and has a rough edge, like it's broke/torn off. I assume the rubber seal on the ring in the pic goes against the firewall ?

The P/S brackets look correct for a '70-up small block. You don't have a pump at all? Does the pulley have a key way?

Yes, it has factory PS and here is a pic of the pump.

I have a 72 Demon if you need any pix for assembly

That will be appreciated !!

Where are you in Minnesota? Look forward to seeing your Demon when you get it completed!

The car is in Oakdale. Not mine, I just was silly enough to think I can put it together after another guy abandoned it.
I need stock exhaust manifolds too, if you know anyone who has them. I don't know if they share the same manifold as the other small blocks ?? If I don't find a set by Sunday, I'll be looking at the Buick swap meet at the fairgrounds.

The pump in your photo is a TRW/Federal style but the separate brackets you posted are for the Saginaw pump. Either you'll need S.B. brackets and pulley for the TRW pump or a Saginaw pump to fit your brackets. I'd have a Saginaw pump with pulley for the '70-up small block if you choose to go that route.
Thanks, Mark
