Many may know this, but I did a search and could not find the info anywhere. So, I have been looking for a Magnum specific stroker kit. The only one I could find was one that Hughes sells, but the price seems steep for what it is. I also looked into building my own and was ready to go that way, then I noticed a question at Summit Racing answered about a Scat kit. Turns out Scat will let you substitute the forged LA pistons for Icon Magnum specific ones for no extra charge. I contacted Scat to confirm, and they even met the Summit/Jeg's promo price for me. The kit numbers that I know they will do this with are 1-48035BI, 1-48035, 1-98113BI, and 1-98113. There may be others that they do this with, but thought I would pass along the info for those who did not know. Also, kudos to Austin Loomis at Scat for helping out with the process.

I think the only difference is the width of the pin boss on the pistons. So as long as your rods match the pistons you can use either set. Just use them as a matched set.

True, that is part of it, but also the Magnum specific pistons have a 1.445 compression height to match up better with the shorter deck.

Hey! Pretty cool! I just noticed this thread. I’m glad you posted it up. Do you know which kits have the small rod end MoPar sizes and which ones are Chevy sized?

I'm was not aware of any of the Scat cranks that offer the Chevy rod sizes. Then again, I was not looking for them either. I know Molnar cranks has that option, but that is about all I know.

Just thought I would update this, I received my stroker kit today. They told me two weeks until it shipped, instead it only took one. Fairly happy with the kit, I don't know much about the ACL main bearings, but they said that they had great luck with them. Anyway, a gratuitous picture of the kit.

What kit part number did you end up with?

I know a year later, but is the engine together?

The part number is 1-98113BI, with KB 984 pistons. Yes, the engine is mostly together, but not running yet. I'll add that the shop that built my short block did not like the main bearing and switched them to Federal Mogul's to get the correct clearances.
