make 225 sound better?

Add on 2 more Cylinders it will sound the best!

Otherwise it will always sound like a 6 cylinder.

V10's sound odd also, nothing like a V8 sound, unless it's a Pontiac. LOL

My '90 Dodge 3.3 V6 has a deeper unique sound.

Goes off the 2 into 1 manifold, then into the catalytic converter, then into the factory used 100,000 mile muffler, then into an 18" long resonator, then up over the rear axle, and out below the lower right rear quarter.

Actually sounds OK.

Maybe you can push your single exhaust over to the passenger side at the bell housing area, put a muffler on, then a resonator, then up over the rear end and out the lower right rear quarter.

That's the line my '76 slant 6 truck took as the 16 gallon plastic gas tank was on the driver's side.

Out the passenger side, the less you will notice the pulse, and you will hear the rumble up through the body instead.

Worth a try, 2" exhaust pipe also instead of the pea shooter tail pipe it came stock with.

I like the TTI kit, but it’s gonna buzz from 1800-2200 rpm like slants do. You need a larger muffler case and a resonator before the bumper to get rid of that.

I've always thought 6 into 6, with the pipes rearranged to exit in firing order, exiting under the driver rocker panel would sound dope AF at a slow idle

got a single system on my six long long 2 into 1 set of extractors 2.5 inch all the way to the muffler which has a 2 inch tial pipe. sounds like a six normally
got a y pipe just before rear wheel with a side pipe in front of rear wheel
shim blocks off the side pipe normally

take out the shim when I want to sound like a riot in a trombone factory...its quite offensive makes small children cry

roll to the local and get single 2" with a turbo or a glass pack and dump it at the axle if you want the noise or take it to the bumper if you want it mellow.

or, you could get a complete kit from TTI and do it in your driveway

I got that TTI 2.5" kit for my 1973 Duster a few months ago.

It is still in the box, not even opened once yet. It is my next planned project, to put it on.

i saw riot in a trombone factory open for side pipe at the knitting factory in 1995. good show!

OI once had a feller ask to borrow my air chisel in a shop he then pulled in his 90s caprice and proceeded to punch holes in the muffler with the air chisel. I asked him what the hell he says "It makes it sound better" I dunno you could try it...:poke:

Has anyone installed the TTI 2.5" kit on a Slant 6 with the stock exhaust manifold? How did it sound? I don't want any drone or noise or a loud raspy exhaust like every modded Honda Civic or Subaru WRX, just a nice quiet system that flows better than the stock 1-7/8" pipe. Is it a Dynomax super turbo muffler in the kit?

The TTI kit is super nice. I ended up using their Mandrel Bent 2 1/2 inch Tail Pipe. I put Clifford Headers on mine too. I used a Flowmaster Delta Flow Muffler and mine sounds like a V-8. Just those Muffler with bigger Pipe (2 1/4 or 2 1/2) will give you a great growl. I did it twice with great results.

The turbo muffler will drone. I’d get the kit without the muffler and put a walker quiet Flo, or the largest case muffler that will fit. You may still have to add a resonator in the tail pipe to avoid the classic Slant 6 buzz.

Mine has the TTI full exhaust coming off Clifford headers. Two 2" pipes off the headers into the 2.5" TTI system and I used a Dynomax Ultra Flow Welded muffler. I went through their flow chart and chose a part number that "they say" flows better than an open pipe. There is zero drone at any speed, but you can hear the exhaust note. I'm very pleased with it.

I had a great idea. After having it sitting here since late June, I finally opened the TTI box to see what muffler they gave me. It is a Dynomax Super Turbo #17733.

Is this a drone monster? I want quiet. The posts above say a quiet flow or an ultra flow.

:lol:my dad and uncles used to do that with their dusters, mavericks, and foxbody's worth a shot since its pretty rotted out

Turbo mufflers just don’t sound good on inline motors IMO. The Ultraflo is for max performance, if you want quiet go quiet Flo or another large case muffler.
