Thinking about changing some things around when the engine goes back in. Only 1 time did I get in a situation where I thought this engine was running a little hotter than I liked. I got caught in stop and go traffic on a real hot day coming back from a car show. I am one to try and prevent problems before they happen. I have a mild built 440/727 combo in the Duster. as it was, the car had an external oil cooler on the front of the radiator. The car has never had a fan shroud on it in the past 14 years. I am thinking about doing away with the external oil cooler and using the fittings on the bottom of the radiator for the tranny lines and allowing a little more air coming through the radiator. I am also going to check into a fan shroud from Summit. They sell the Mopar Performance ones. I know that would help a lot. My concern is with the tranny lines going through the radiator bottom. But then most of the cars ran that back in the day. you think that will be better. I have also tossed around the idea of mounting an external fan up there with a sending unit into the water jacket that would come on once it reached 195* just incase I get caught in a lot of traffic during " Cruising the Coast". I know how hot it gets down there.

I would for sure rig a shroud, but the trans cooler might be a toss up. Remember, the radiator has to get rid of the same heat the cooler does, if you are using the in-rad cooler.

I've thought about trying to tack some fasteners under the floor without too much "intrusion" and mounting a cooler under there, back by the trans somewhere

but if that would be a problem to use the in rad cooler, why would all the Chrysler cars come out of the factory that way. It seems to me that by eliminating the cooler from in front of the radiator it would allow more air through to cool it better.

I will call the tranny shop and the radiator shop and get their ideas on what would be the best way to do this. Thanks 67Dart273.
