Perhaps a 401 Dogleg.

I bought twenty 72 to 74 LAPD Matadors from auction
for my dealership in 1975. They were shockingly Fast!

I put on in my CJ5 Jeep (Bolt in easy Swap). It was faster
than many of the muscle cars at the Dealership but a real
handful to drive at 120+ MPH!!

Holy (censored)! One of my buddies had a 401 in a CJ-5 (this was about 1992 or so), and it was a handful at 60, if you mashed the gas...

I can't imagine trying to keep the dirty side down at 120!

You, sir, must have some "brass ones"!

Well I do not know about Brass, But plenty big at my age!

They also include a long Scar where my Black Labrador bit
me back then while replacing the starter on our 71 Hemi Cuda.
since then, I work on the cars in Jeans and never shorts.

My friend's Son has a nice SCrambler and he's only 17. Runs high 11's with a 401.
His Dad has an "all stock" Rambler running 9.0

dogleg exhaust ports on the 70(?) and up heads. 2.025 intake and 1.68 exhaust valves. 2.08/1.74 Mopar valves were a swap option. intake bolt pattern is different also.

Did the same with the '79 AMX (Spirit body style) I had years back- the 401 just bolted right up in place of the 304 and looked dead stock. The thing was downright evil... loved picking on the unsuspecting 5.0 Muskrats! I never should have sold it.

I have a 1971 Hornet SC360 in the collection, one of 19 made with two barrel and three speed. It's alot of power for a little car.

Looks like he bought it recently from a consignment or broker

This was the last year for amc nascar this was 1974

Pictures?
784 SC360'Ss were made, 130 are in existence today. This picture below is not of mine, but of an identical black car. Mines in one of my garages out in Colorado next to a 1 of 48 made Lotus. I haven't seen the car in years.. This info is from the SC360 registry:
71 SC/360 P1 Classic Black
is one of the rarest colors! Black cars have some differences not found on regular production colors. Black paint was a $56 OPTION more than a "regular" production color.

I was in Kenosha this past Sunday afternoon and went to the Kenosha History Museum to see what cars they had in there currently.

Davey Allison's Matador that won in Milwaukee is on display.
