well, My wife and I got a taste of big corp's screwing over the customer base today! Canada has made the penny disappear and basically forced cash paying customers to round up or down depending on where the ex-penny lands. We go into the Orangeville Ontario McD's and order our medium regular coffee and carrot muffin and low and behold, instead of the regular $1.67, it's now $1.68, so guess what (you don't need to be a rocket scientist on this), instead of rounding down to $1.65, they get to round up to $1.70. Now, our fine government hoped this wouldn't happen (yeah right!) but I am a tad upset at the greed in hand by McDonalds. If they simply made the aesthetics $1.70, well no beef really, but to think the customer is that stupid to not realize the penny grab, well, that is truly pathetic on McDonalds behalf.
Next time thru (if we do) it will be credit card only. Pay the fees for the transaction McDonalds, however small they may be!

I tried to email the link to McD's, no email available!

An irate client.

over 1 Billion served @ .02 = 2 million dollars

pays for about 5 ski trips to Vale for executives lol

blame Canada for eliminating the penny...if I own a business I would be rounding up too..

Not saying McDonalds is correct, but growing up we learned that if its 5 or higher you round up if its below that you round down. Might be where they are coming from also.

McDonalds SUCKS! Food is crap and they don't give a crap about the customer. Spend your money where they care and provide quality product, even if it costs a little more.

Many companies ( incl Home Depot ) are rounding down, even when it is over the .05 cents. Good PR and cheaper than expensive advertising. Because of this they get my business over the company upping the price to take advantage of me.

Yup, Burger King or Hardees

I guess the main point is getting missed in my little rant. When the Gov. eliminated the penny, there was concern retailers would round up only, so the Gov. "suggested" 1-2, down 3-4 up,6-7 down, 8-9 up, although this is not a law. My point with the rant, is Mc'd's has taken the advantage to make more profits based on the suggested rounding up/down by the Gov. I think it would have been smarter for them to simply make the purchase $1.70 with no questions asked, versus moving the price up $0.01 for the sake of gaining $0.02. Who looks bad for it?

As for making my own, I could if I was home, which I wasn't, but then that can be said for many things, including hamburgers.

Walmart here in town gave me pennies in my change lastnight. The exact change...

The lady told me they are still using them until they dont have any more. They even take pennies..

I found it odd since no other retailer in town have gave me penny change since Early Feb.

On that note.. Mcee Dees and Tim Hortons are rounding up from 2.... if you don't say anything they wont correct it ....

Mcee Dees have a coffee promo on right now... small is free - med is .55 and large is 1.10

I wonder how long before this happens in the states,...the penny mint will prolly be the next thing to shut down cause of our LAME *** GOVERNMENT...

my guess is it'll happen when the cost of making pennies becomes more than the coin's face value....if that's not happened already.

I think the penny here was costing 1.6cents to make before they scrapped it.

I'm pretty sure that's happened already...seems to me I read somethin about that recently,...although I did not know Canada had done away with It...
