I have a Hurst Quarter Stick in my Demon. Unfortunately the shifter cable fell against the header and melted the casing. I have already ordered a replacement cable. What I am wondering is, can I cut the melted area of plastic off and run the existing cable for a week or so until the new one gets here?

If cable is still moving freely in the casing, I don't see why not........Tape up the exposed metal casing for the week or so to keep moisture out. JMO.

As long as the two remaining pieces of the cable are anchored at each end, yes, it should work.

O.K., Thanks guys. It goes back in tomorrow. If only for a week. I still get to drive it.

That happened to Me doing parking lot burnouts, one after another at the hotels during the Mopar Nat's. The casing strands can spread & pull the liner & cable thru' the side, wrap the area with strip ties to prevent that, & You're good 'til the new one arrives. Get some D.E.I. etc. heat sleeve to slip over the new one.
