I know there are a lot of cat people on this forum, So I figure you will allow me the space.
Our first rescue cat- Skittles disappeared Friday.
He was there at the morning feeding time, and after we got home from some errands, we never saw him again.
He usually stays in the house, or the back yard, but occasionally has been in the back fence neighbor's garden. That neighbor seems real friendly. We speak often, and he hasn't complained.
I even told him to let me know if it's a problem.
I find it kind of odd that this happened in the middle of the day.
If it was at night, I'd suspect a wild animal.
He wasn't having any issues with other cats, either. Not even the "new guy".
Skit was average size 13.5 pounds, and kinda shy, but was the "alpha" cat.
Most of our cats have more than one name. Sometimes I called him "Cowboy" Especially if we had to go to the vet.
I've walked the neighborhood several times (only three streets), passed out flyers, and been to the pound (that was tough seeing all those cats and dogs that probably will never make it out).
About 2 months ago, we had to let them roam free due to another cat peeing on the carpet. That solved that problem and a few others.
The first three weeks or so, they spent more time outside than in, but they have settled down and are about 50/50 now, some even more "inside" time.
I guess the excitement wore off and they figured out where the easy food was. Now They all pretty much stay in the back yard, except one that prefers the front yard and ranges a little farther.
Anyway- Here's to Skitty. The one that started it all.
I hope you're at peace, wherever you are, Cowboy!
