Missing gasket?

I'm in the process of stripping as much as reasonably possible off my firewall so I can paint it and I want to remove the wiper motor, and I need to remove items under my dash as it looks like there is no room to even much of anything.

While browsing I notice a pretty large gap behind where the three vents are, and the box behind it. Looks like the two rectangle openings should mate up except one seems a bit too large and am guessing there should be some sort of gasket maybe between them?

Can you be more specific? There are no vents going through the firewall.

Looks tight at the top. Is the bottom broke away or something? Does it move easily?

This is below the dash under the radio. There is about 1/4" gap at the top and 1/2" at the bottom. Everything seemed tight, but will probably start to tear it apart soon, just seemed wrong and want to know what it looks like on others or if there are any online assembly manuals that would show an exploded diagram showing if there is something missing
