Mopar Dealer Tachometer

-
You got this from the dealer? If so, I would go back to them with it and see what they have to say....or whoever you got it from.

I bought it off Ebay recently. The guy I bought it from
didn't have the wiring instructions. I wished I could get
the pictures I took resized. It is the tach in the 1973
dealer option brochure. I have the brochure but the picture
is very small.

I think you need to contact the seller and see if he has any info for ya. Maybe tommorrow someone who is familiar with that tach can help...but they are probably all sleeping right now.

Ahhhh pictures. That tach is going to use black for ground, red for a key hot and the green/white to the neg side of the coil. It most likely lights up all the time.

P.S. I would check the bulb before install. It probably uses a little conventional light bulb like the ones in the dash.

Then you 66340SEDAN and 360scamp agree. That's good
enough for me, I'll have to go get some wire in the morning
and I'll hook it up and let everyone know how it turns out.
It cost me allot and I wanted to make sure it doesn't become
a paperweight. Thanks!!!

Just for cheap insurance you should get a $2 fuse holder and some fuses going from low amps to high and put a small one in first, just to make sure you don't hurt it. Like you said, it wasn't cheap and it would suck if we are wrong. I don't think we are, but it would suck!

I just finished wiring up my tachometer and it works GREAT!!!
It has a cool green glow to the light and at night I bet it looks
really wicked. That was a good idea about the inline fuse
mopar340dave. Thank you and 66340 SEDAN, and 360 scamp
for you help and patience. This site and the people here are
FANTASTIC!!!

Glad we could help and really glad it worked out for ya.
I am going back to day shift a week from Monday. If ya wanna meet some time, I'll let you know if I go to a bike night in Jax.
There is a huge cruise in every month down at Bruce Rossmeyer's Destination Daytona, too.

Great looking tach and a very period correct accessory. Glad the guys could help out with the hook-up. Got any photos ? toolman

Holy ****! $675 for a used tach?!? I realize that it is period correct piece, but I think some people have gotten greedy. I would be willing to bet he's gonna sit on that one for a while before it sells.

Yikes!!!!!! That's a bundle. I didn't realize he paid that much. Good thing it works!!! But, If that's what you
want and that's what they go for then so be it. I would love to find a factory AM-FM tadio for my Dart but I can't justify the $300+ they go for....................if you can find one..that works........ Mike

mopar340dave let me know when you are coming to Jacksonville and I'll
try to go to the motorcycle cruise. I don't have the tach permanently
installed. I wanted to check it out and see how I will mount it. I'm planning
on taking the Dart apart for a resto and I want to see how everything will
go so I don't have any surprises. Just so you know guys I only paid $325.00
for my tach. I know it's still pricey but I really wanted it. This car is just
like the one I drove to high school and I had a really cheap tach then and
I want this car to be special. I also wanted a tuff wheel and a dual snorkel
hood scoop which I have. There is another tach on Ebay I saw about
a half hour ago just like mine and it's $450.00 so the other guy will be
holding on to his for a while.

Sounds good. What year is your Dart?
I had a 74 Dart Sport way back when. It was a great car and my first Mopar! I wish I still had it, but I never would have bought the 69 340 4 speed swinger if the 74 didn't get totalled!
I bought the 74 from a Admiral's widow for $950. She gave me $50 back when I picked up the car after making the last payment and she told me to give it a tune-up and change the fluids...super nice lady! She wanted to give me the car after the first payment but I insisted she hold onto it until she was paid in full.
She must have thought that that was a real stand-up thing to do but in reality I would have loved to drive it home that day, I just didn't have enough money to pay her and the registration and insurance!:-D
I was just a PFC in the Marines....we got paid ****!!!

Mine is a 1973. It's a factory 340 just like my high school car. I remember
when I went to the car lot I had found a 73 340 'Cuda at another lot and
I told the salesman. He gave me the keys and smiled and said take it for
a test drive. I took it down the road and spent about 5-10 minutes smoking
the tires. I came back and put a deposit on it. Had to get my parents to
sign since I was only 16. I was working at Mc Donalds to pay for it.

I am too tired right now to get into it, but it is not hard or expensive to make that thing handle like it's on rails! I did my 74 that way.
We'll talk again another time.
Dave
