Gov. Blunt Statement on Obama Campaign’s Abusive Use of Missouri Law Enforcement

JEFFERSON CITY - Gov. Matt Blunt today issued the following statement on news reports that have exposed plans by U.S. Senator Barack Obama to use Missouri law enforcement to threaten and intimidate his critics.

“St. Louis County Circuit Attorney Bob McCulloch, St. Louis City Circuit Attorney Jennifer Joyce, Jefferson County Sheriff Glenn Boyer, and Obama and the leader of his Missouri campaign Senator Claire McCaskill have attached the stench of police state tactics to the Obama-Biden campaign.

“What Senator Obama and his helpers are doing is scandalous beyond words, the party that claims to be the party of Thomas Jefferson is abusing the justice system and offices of public trust to silence political criticism with threats of prosecution and criminal punishment.

“This abuse of the law for intimidation insults the most sacred principles and ideals of Jefferson. I can think of nothing more offensive to Jefferson’s thinking than using the power of the state to deprive Americans of their civil rights. The only conceivable purpose of Messrs. McCulloch, Obama and the others is to frighten people away from expressing themselves, to chill free and open debate, to suppress support and donations to conservative organizations targeted by this anti-civil rights, to strangle criticism of Mr. Obama, to suppress ads about his support of higher taxes, and to choke out criticism on television, radio, the Internet, blogs, e-mail and daily conversation about the election.

“Barack Obama needs to grow up. Leftist blogs and others in the press constantly say false things about me and my family. Usually, we ignore false and scurrilous accusations because the purveyors have no credibility. When necessary, we refute them. Enlisting Missouri law enforcement to intimidate people and kill free debate is reminiscent of the Sedition Acts - not a free society.”

Actually, if you remember your history, similar tactics have been employed in the past. The person who used this approach was sucessful at gaining power in his respective country. He also spoke of 'change' and after instituting 'change', he blazed a path in history that will be remembered for centuries. This man's name was Adolf Hitler.

This is actually nothing new. Liberals have always sought to silence the opposition, hence the ludicrously titled "fairness doctrine" and the cancer that is "political correctness", because they know they can not win any open debate. Liberalism, and it's dismal track record, is a loser every time.
 
The only "free speech" accepted by the US Democratic Party (liberal socialists) is that which does not challenge it's intellectual authority.

Look at the curricula in our schools and colleges........look at the proposed legislation governing the air waves and broadcasting (cable and satellite included).........and for cryin' out loud, watch Ben Stein's movie "Expelled" to get the specifics on these types of tactics.

Research the organization called "Acorn" which is involved as we speak in massive voter registration fraud to attempt to subvert our election process (fraud in favor of, you guessed it.....The Dems and Obamy Salamy).

Just do a little research, and keep your eyes open.

Wow, had no idea there were so many hardcore conservatives on this forum.

Alas, forums are usually dominated by them, the hardcore conservatives, and by that I mean those who cannot see things any way but their own.

I cannot stand when someone comes around with a "ITS THIS PARTY AND NO OTHER" attitude.
Grow up.
You have to be willing to accept opinions from all sides in order to have a successful government.

I'm afraid you lost me there. Has the term hoosier been redefined or something? In that context, it almost seems to be intended as an insult. To what end?

General Discussion is exactly that. If the subject matter is bothersome, move on to another thread. I prefer to absorb information from varied perspectives without necessarily jumping in to rip on anybody. I'd like to think that we're collectively mature enough to discuss controversial topics without devolving to the point of making it personal. It wouldn't be the first time I've been mistaken...

you need to stay in school and take a class in US Government...

the President does not make the law...Congress does..and it is controlled by who? the democrats....so it would not be the president changing the law it would be your democratic controlled congresss...

Hey im just saying. In all honesty I dont like either canidate so I really dont care who gets in were all going to die either way.

Im sorry? Everyone has there own outlooks on life mine isnt dieing for something i dont believe in @ the age of 20. Im not saying I dont appreciate who went over and served for us its just not my cup of tea. If I want to go over there and fight I would inlist but I dont I just dont think its right to be able to force someone.

It appears that this Blunt guy is now being threatened with a libel suit by the Missouri Attorney General. Shocker!

And by the way, comparing Obama to Hitler is an outright insult to anyone with half a brain. You're really reaching on that one!
 
Im not trying to piss anyone off Im just tired of everyone hanging on mcCains nuts everyone is bitching about how fucked up the economy is but I doubt we will see much if any of a change with mcCain in office. This is just my opinion everyone has there own so dont *****. And speaking of us government weird how I had the highest grade in class I guess I dont know anything cause im just a kid. I think the mods should lock all of the threads that have anything to do with the elections cause all it is doing is making ppl fight.

How come nobody on here can be the "better man" and go above arguing all day about this stuff? I wish people would take many more things with a grain of salt and not be so one-sided that they can't possibly take "no" for an answer. Have some modesty, will ya? I mean I know it is the future of our country, but I don't see how having such a fiery temper and not being able to see beyond one's own views does any good for our country. I don't support Obama, neither do I support McCain. But I do try to learn as much as I can about both and make my own decisions; not force them upon everyone else. But, with everyone else on here who thinks the same way, we're just horribly misinformed kids who don't deserve to live in this country.

If somebody wants to believe in something, they will find countless examples of proof to support their beliefs.
 
you need to learn how to draw lines, and not live in the gray. make your own decisions then, and if you're changed from a post or thread on this site, or any for that matter, im not sure what advice i can give you. talk to your dad about it i guess. if you dont like us talking about how we dont like obama, then dont post or rear this then. i dont read the posts about people talking bad about mccain.
