This engine is for sale now. I'm asking $7550 but will entertain offers.
This is not an all out how much power can I squeeze out of an engine type build. I did not do a lot of work on the heads, just a good valve job and a mild port clean up. The cam is pretty small and the drivability will be very nice. I think it has great torque down low considering that the 383 has no stroke, 3.38". Yes there is a lot left in this combo. Spend about 40hrs on the heads and it will go over 500HP, but that wasn't the point here. I wanted a mild 383 that you can drive anywhere, anytime.
BTW a stock HP 383 was rated at 335HP GROSS with 10 to 1 compression. This one is making 100HP more than that with less compression and the same drivability.
Here is a little 383 I put together. I just ran the snot out of it today. Its just a little stockish 383, nothing to out there. Build is as follows
383 block 30 over
383 crank
383 rods w/ARP bolts
383 oil pan
Summit racing oil pan gasket/windage tray
KB flat tops
Procomp straight plug heads, mild clean up
Aluminum roller rockers
MRL custom hydraulic roller 227/231 .550"
RPM intake
Proform carb 750 mech
FBO Ignition(Out-performed the MSD 7!)
It ran well, made good power and was all in by 5200rpm.
436HP at 5200
460+TQ from 3750-4800rpm peaked at 467tq
