1965 Dodge Dart GT
I figured it was time for me to post pictures of what i do with my 65 dart GT. I did the carpet, and the pictures get crappy after a while, but all i have is my camera phone.
Here is how the carpet looked when my dad and i pulled the seats and shifter cover. The carpet was dirty and VERY ripped up in the driver side, but nothing horrible. It was just time for something new. What's terrible is the poor guy threw his back out pulling everything out! So the rest of the install was up to me while we tried to keep him on the couch. I'm sure some of you can relate, but i had to say, "IF you don't say on the couch and mom sees you out here, shes gonna kill me!"
and back seat area. That thing was a toy we found under the seat. So we began to collect change in it. Surprisingly enough, only got about $2.50, but it is a low millage car.
With the carpet removed. First thing i thought was "The guys on my website would hate me for this!" Absolutely no rust but that tiny bit of surface crap from the existing carpet missing for a few years.
Another shot:
And another:
So we began to lay down the carpet. I fit the front first
Then the back. What was shocking was they didnt have enough carpet for the back seat. As some probably know, the back seat kinda curves inwards, so you need a small sliver of carpet in the far corners, otherwise you'll see bare metal. I ended up cutting out those parts of the old carpet and using a bunch of 409 and carpet cleaner to make it look good again and patched it. Unless you were looking for it, you could never tell.
Another shot towards the driver side:
So here it is today, a bit dirty, but a shot of the driver side:
Another:
The backseat area, from driver side:
AND heres that corner i was telling you about. If you look, you can see the area where the old carpet meets the new. SO make sure your carpet kits have that area before you throw out your old stuff.
And a shot sitting from the backseat:
Once i get some new seat covers in here, I'll have a pretty decent looking interior. More to come soon.
