My Dart Swinger Project!

Post up what you grab from Walfart. Selection here from them is limited and any dremel here are very $$. Have fun with the porting. Always seems something else takes priority over getting my xheads done lol.
Cheers
Steve

True, hold on to it...There are at least two things I would never let go of....my tools and my guns.

Ok guys im working on my heads again today. I got out my gaskets to look at gasket matching these are 360 heads i know the tin gasket is for 318s the blue gasket looks awfully big is this normal? Is it safe to gasket match this?
Also should i also gasket match the intake?
Ps the top pic is the intake bottom is the head.

I got some more paint chips today from kirker paint. In the process of researching kirker paint I came Across some old post and recommendations for the coating store so I was looking there (which I have done many many times before) and I found that they sale factory original colors so i did some looking and they have the exact color iv been looking for and trying to match k5 burnt orange.
1970 Dodge Charger Car Paint Colors - Buy Custom Paint For Your Automobile Or Motorcycle At Discount Prices!
So this is probably what im gonna go with its a little more expensive than I was hoping to pay (almost 400) but I think it worth it to get the exact color i want.
Does anyone know if k5 was a metallic color or not?

The reason i ask about the metallic is because on their website they have two different names for the same color one is burnt orange poly and one is burnt orange metallic. That is odd. Lol here is what im shooting for I LOVE this color.

One paint code two names, Dodge boys and Plymouth guys had an in house revelry amongst themselves in jest or jealousy. For example Dodge called their Plum Crazy Metallic VS. Plymouth and their In-Violet Metallic. As in your case Deep VS. Dark Brunt Orange Metallic.
Paint Codes Reference: 1960-1971 Dodge/Plymouth Paint Codes

K5 paint code would have metallic, and pearl, and iridescent, and pigments, all part of the paint receipt. Looks to be an 1970 early 71 paint, PPG code 2135.....
Dodge Color Codes - orange Paint Cross-Reference
I like the color, I would get a higher priced clear to cover the base coat, good luck with it..........

Thanks @Dicer im gonna upgrade and get their hs glamor clear. Its about 100 dollars more but I think its worth it.

Well despite the rain mud and flooding here and working on my truck I managed to get some work on my engine done. I got the freeze plugs out and the cam bearings out.
A question. What size square socket do I need to get the oil plugs out if the back of the engine? Is there any plugs that I missed? I read a long time ago that there is a plug in the rear main cap does that one come out?

I also worked on my heads a little more I'm pretty happy with the exhaust side on this head! I'm waiting on my sanding rolls to get here from @4spdragtop and then I will gasket match the intake and start on the next head!
Another question do the freeze plugs in the heads need to come out also?

Need to get rid of the ring under the seat, but keep the tulip shape

If you look at my pictures, you'll see how it starts at the seat and has the tulip shape into the bowl

Ok thank you for the advice! Much appreciated! Does the area around the valve guides look ok to you or should I go farther?
Need to smooth it out, get rid of the choppy look.

I use this to start with... when they get smaller from use, then you can use them for the harder places to reach, like around the valve guides. I use the sand roll, then a buffer (but only buff the exhaust side). It takes me about seven hours to port 1 head

Here is the plug I was referring to
Do I need to get it out? If so how do I get it out?

Purchase just bought some on Ebay. I got some of the little cone shaped ones also

Those square plugs are an odd size, .330” on my engine.
I ground a 1/2” extension down, and used heat to get the plugs out.
I did buy a new plug set from Mancini’s and they came with Allen heads.
