My Dart Swinger Project!

-
Ok got some more work done started cleaning the other head and disassembling it. I cced one of the chambers although im not really confident with my results im getting between 68 and 70 that seems small to me for a stock head. Im gonna try it again and do more than one chamber and see if they vary. I think in the morning im gonna get the dremel and start porting.

For some reason I cant get photos to work today?? I will try again later

Here are some photos of the head cleaning process idk I couldn't get the pics to work before. Sorry they may be some duplicates in there iv tried like 5 times to upload them some of them still wont work it says error.

Cleaning, the worst part of any project ever.
Started cleaning pistons, rods on the dumpster 318 I am putting together.

Weather has sucked and my work schedule has sucked worse. I have been working 72 hours weeks (6x12hrs) since Christmas. I finally have 3 days off this week and the weather is supposed to be nice. So the goal is to get the engine torn down and get it to the machinist. I talked to him on Friday and we are still on the game plan.
On another note i got a paint sample card and have been trying to decide a color im going for as close to the original color without going to brown. My original is t5. Im pretty much set on the sunburst orange even tho i think the copper is closer to the original.

My wife really wants me to do the antique gold and while I really like it its not what I envisioned for this car. I think it would be an awesome color for a 50s rod or even a duster or more "muscle car"
I also like the the blues too. But im really set on the orange lol I need more cars to paint haha.

I had to run to town and do some errands today I got home and loaded my cherry picker in the truck and had the intentions of digging the engine out today as soon as I got started it started pouring rain so I came inside and worked on some other projects im working on. Hopefully weather will cooperate tomorrow. But I did get these two beauties put together.

Blue was actually the original choice the first time I painted it 16 years ago. And let the guy at the paint store talk me out of it. He said he didnt recommend me doing metallic because its harder for a newbie to spray. Which he is correct. So I went with black. I was gonna just do black again until I got on here and i saw abodyjoes car I just love that burnt orange its almost like my original color. But more orange than brown. I do like the gold tho. Idk aaahhhh its gonna be a hard decision lol

I like your Sunburst Orange Metallic best of the latest shown. Do you know how pearlescent it is? I think a decent amount of pearlescence will really bring out the style lines better than a straight metallic. I love orange A-Bodies almost as much as green ones. My first A Body introduction that I drove regularly was a general lee orange 70 Duster. It wasn't technically my car but I drove it more than anybody else in the family.

If you are leaning towards a copper, I like this one. Good compromise between orange and copper.

That is a beautiful color i really like it. There are three similar colors on my card the sunburst orange then there is copper metallic and bronze metallic. I like the copper better than bronze the copper is very close to my original color

Cast my vote for the copper metallic, when HD came out with their 105 anniversary color, copper pearl with black accents...super sharp. I would do a copper with black call outs for sure, scoops if you got them, and tail stripe.
I like the copper better than bronze the copper is very close to my original color
To me this is the best way to go, I like seeing the paint match the interior combo.....as James Bond would say, "Providing the collars and the cuffs match"...

For the first time in 16+ years the 360 is out of hibernation. I got it out of storage and onthe engine stand taking a break now getting ready to start tearing into it. I got to be very careful this time around last time nm9stheham pointed out i mixed up my rod caps gotta make sure i dont make no mistakes on this one.

Back to the colors. I tried to take a couple pictures of the original color i have few good samples left I have one place on the radiator support that i never sanded and painted over and the new paint peeled off. And on the bottom side of the hood that i never sanded the sun is brutal I can't get a good clear picture I try again after the sun goes down.

Man that looks rough, check the lifter bores for pitting, if it needs bushed it may not be worth fixing.
Dude don't tell me that!!! Lol. This is my last opinion.
No seriously thanks for the heads up i will go check them and post pics and see what yall think.

Ok gotta quick question. I got it torn down everything except one side i cannot get the pistons out. Im assuming the rings are catching on the groove at the top of the cylinder walls. Whats the best method to get them out? I tapped on them with a hammer and a wooden rod you can hear it when it bottoms outs. I took one out the bottom side and was just gonna take the rings off and push it back thru but then I noticed the middle ones i can't do that with them. So im stuck for now.

Ok I checked the lifter bores they look fine to me they are dirty but dont appear to be pitted or rusty. I cleaned one with rag and a used lifter slide right in and moved freely its tight but not grabbing or grinding it feels like i think it should.
