So the day finally came to start this "mild mannered" beast up. Check the video on YouTube.
Didn’t have any manners at all. Haven’t put it in gear yet but pretty sure I’m gonna have major traction issues. After the muffler shop recommended by Karl
(Krazykuda) quiets it down and the spring perches get welded in I’ll get it aligned and check how much it weighs. For sure I’ll recheck the pinion angle too.
Thanks appreciate the comment. It most certainly has been fun but challenging and now off to the muffler shop tomorrow which should also be a task as I’d like it to exit out the back under the bumper and in front of rear tires for the cutouts. Been told with with mini tubs and frame tied it could be close especially with 2.5” pipes. We shall see.
I guess the old adage where there’s a will there’s a way. I wanted side exhaust coming out in front of the back tire when the cutouts are open plus rear exhaust under the bumper for normal street driving. Karl (Krazykuda) steered me to the right place. Gotta shop for some chrome extensions now.
Prolly going with the smaller version of the T/A extensions here and the oval ones on the back.
With the springs moved in pipes came out I little farther towards each side.
Had to “massage” the passenger side a little to get a little more room for the frame rail and tank. All in all really tight and plenty of clearance.
Cleared the frame connectors buy half an inch. As tight as everything came out I’m not to worried about them hitting.
Getting back to the project and to the welding shop. Here’s the plan. Whatcha think? Too tacky? With just a flick of the finger I got some noise. Just don’t want it exiting under the car.
Kinda figured I needed floor mats but what to get? So I went and bought a couple of cheap ones and had the grand kids design me some as I couldn’t find anything I liked. After all it is a bit of a unique car. They cut out a stencil and did a “sponge paint” on them. Wadda ya think? I think they did good.
