For ease of build, best use of weight (over all weight distribution F/R), K.I.S.S. method, I went with a 408 in my 68 Dart. All the power and performance of a big block without the hassle. 12.50's w/ A/C and 3.23 gears on 235/60 drag radials. This in a car that I built for the wife to pick up kids at school instead of driving her Excursion. Mild mannered when driven normally and an absolute animal when driven with intent.

P.S. Don't like the gold either... makes me think it was painted with nail polish or somethin'. Just doesn't look right.

If you dont want to cut the engine bay or make it so tight you cant fit a finger between the fenderwells and engine I would put a small block stroker in it. They make plenty of power and can look like a stock 340/360.
