Need help identifying an 8 3/4

-

They are 15" wheels. They have the chrysler pentastar on them with a 13 next to it. Also it has a "Detroit" u-joint installed.

The other wheel looks earlier so is there any id on it?

There are very few manufacturers that used that style of bolt on hubs on the axles so that eliminates a lot of possibilities.

And no e-brake provision.

E-Brake would have been a Drum & Shoes (With a Lever that resembles a Shifter sticking up through the floor to engage the E-Brake) mounted to the Tailshaft on the Transmission.

EDIT : Just like the brake in my '48.

If only I could match a casting number with something. But, Sounds more and more like it's out of a power wagon. Went to Vintage Power Wagons.com and they ID the ring gear by pinion diameter. The pinion seal diameter is 4" according to that, its the 9 5/8.

Yes. Except for a metal band and spring wrapping the outside, it looks the same.

Well crap. Anyone in the market for a 48-53 dodge rear diff? Lol. Thanks to everyone who helped solve this mystery.

It was supposed to go in my 67 dart. Just finished the 340 and am looking to get rid of the 7 1/4 for the 8 3/4. What I get for not checking numbers before I forked over the cash.
dude i wish i read early i just did the same thing bought a 1950 he said 8.75 and i assumed it was but knew it was different than later models cause one side the lug nuts are reverse threaded and and of coarse he told me came out of the truck but the measurements were perfect for my 69 dart and figured i could at least get the gears i want and put a spline lock in it because it we thougght was 8.75 so its actully an 8 and 5/8 or did figure that out

Ok, I’m sorry. Still good some info, even after 9 years.
