Okay, thanks to a fellow slant sixer in Oklahoma City, my a/c is now mounted. The bracket that is attached to the compressor has 4 holes at the bottom of the bracket and three of the holes screw into the same bolts that screw into the water pump. The remaining brace on the engine block and just under and to the right of the water pump is not used at all for the a/c. It is actually for the power steering pump. Once I got the a/c mounted to the water pump, the three round support braces fell into place. One extends from the vacuum advance (big round hockey puck looking thing in the center of block next to valve cover. The next one screws into the back of the compressor and straight down to the driver side motor mount where there is a pre-drilled hole for the bolt and nut. The last brace extends horizonally from the side of the compressor over to the side of the intake manifold just above the EGR valve and of course under the air pan. Thank God for vintage car owners with factory air conditioning.
