I tried to reinstall the air conditioner on my 74 Dodge Dart Sport and I obviously need help. Can anyone post pictures of the bottom of the a/c and how it bolts to the bracket at the bottom, front of the block? I need to see which bolts hold it and where the braces go. My bolts and braces are all mixed up. The bracket sits in front of the driver's side motor mount just to the right of the water pump.

Does anybody out there have a 73 or 74 slant six with a/c? If you can't post pictures, a description of how the bottom of the compressor mounts (four holes on this bracket) and where the round braces attach to the compressor and the other end of the brace mounts would be helpful. I have three round braces. ANYBODY?

Okay, thanks to a fellow slant sixer in Oklahoma City, my a/c is now mounted. The bracket that is attached to the compressor has 4 holes at the bottom of the bracket and three of the holes screw into the same bolts that screw into the water pump. The remaining brace on the engine block and just under and to the right of the water pump is not used at all for the a/c. It is actually for the power steering pump. Once I got the a/c mounted to the water pump, the three round support braces fell into place. One extends from the vacuum advance (big round hockey puck looking thing in the center of block next to valve cover. The next one screws into the back of the compressor and straight down to the driver side motor mount where there is a pre-drilled hole for the bolt and nut. The last brace extends horizonally from the side of the compressor over to the side of the intake manifold just above the EGR valve and of course under the air pan. Thank God for vintage car owners with factory air conditioning.
