Couldn’t find an appropriate section to post this, so here goes.

I need to remove the trunk hinges on my ‘69 Cuda fastback. Looked underneath there expecting the usual torsion rod type of springs but instead found these cool individual “pod” (?) looking things held on by two bolts. The trunk lid is off, allowing the arm to swing up in the vertical position. Does anyone know if the spring mechanism is still “loaded” and could be problematic when taking the bolts out to remove the mechanism? I ask because I was once injured when removing a torsion spring mechanism on the tailgate of an old International Travelall. I don’t wish to repeat that experience. Thank you in advance for your input.

Nope, those aren’t what my car has. I think because my car is a fastback, the cross over body panel, and that whole structural area below the big back window is too small to use the same mechanism from a coupe or sedan and they had to come up with a different, compact design. Good old Chrysler engineering was successful!
