Hey all,

Ive got the single post Neutral Safety Switch in a late seventies v8 904.
The wire is good (double checked all connections, yet the car still starts in neutral...could it be the nss switch?
Could it be hooked up to the relay incorrectly?

Starter relay is fairly new and everything else on the car works as it should.

It is very hard to find a reasonable priced single post nss so Im thinking of using a spare 3 prong I have, to see if that is indeed the problem.

Any other tips on this would be great

it is suppose to start in neutral....and park...

no start in gear.

and i guess that make the switch good.......

I'm not positive, but I pretty sure the late 70's should have a 3 wire switch. I know 66 was 1 wire, but I thought they changed to 3 wire in the late 60's or early 70's.

Edit: 1968 up used the 3 wire switch. 1967 down was the 1 wire.

The trans was swapped about ten years ago from a 65 unit to a 1978 lockup trans. They switched out that neutral safety switch from the original trans to this newer one, as you are right...3 prong was the std in those later years.

I will try to start it in gear, and if that works (which it shouldnt) I will buy a 3 wire switch and hook up the center wire only. I just wasn't sure an early-a nss switch would work in a later 904 trans.
