Hello Everyone...

After many years of owning older Fords and imports, I now have my first Chrysler product. (Took a bit of time to get onto this site after signing up - it kept telling me a confirmation email was sent, re-sent, re-sent, and never got it. Yes, I checked my junk email folder every time, and nothing. For whatever reason, it finally worked today!)

It's a 1968 Dodge Dart GTS 340 convertible with quite a history. Photo below - some may recognize it! I'm told it was at Spring Fling in 2001, and then at the Carlisle show in 2008, with two different prior owners.

Getting this car was bittersweet, as a dear friend passed away and left it to me. It sat for a year after his passing, and it wasn't driven much in the months before that, but I'm getting it all sorted, slowly.

Welcome! Nice car! You’re fortunate to be in SoCal where there are lots of rust free Mopars & parts. I used to live by San Diego & could find anything I wanted for a decent price & in good shape. Now that I’m in TX, it’s mostly junk & they want premium prices.

Yup, Mannix, recognized it immediately.. Saw it at the Fling, Saw it on my TV... Congratulations any 68 Dart Vert is cool, A 340 makes it sweeter & the Mannix car trumps all... Sorry to hear of your friends passing... Hope you are able to bring it out to the Spring Fling this year... April 18th & 19th... The Malibu Cruise is the 17th if your up for a drive through the canyons and along the coast...

Dave,
Hope to see this at Spring Fling this year.

Maybe I’ll see at a Cruise-In before, I know you’re spread out. I was at Conejo Valley Cruise-In this morning with my gold 66 Hemi Satellite.

I've been in contact with the previous owner of the car, the guy on the east coast. He bought it well after that showing at Spring Fling in 2001, and he had heard the car was trailered there, as it wasn't quite sorted mechanically. It had a 318, as the original 340 was missing when the car was found, so he got busy putting a 340 back in it, then he took it to Carlisle in 2008.

I may or may not be able to make it to Spring Fling this year, as that's the same weekend as the Long Beach Grand Prix, and I may be tied up with that for work. I should know more when we get closer.
