We put a gas carb on the AMX yesterday. With Gasoline the previous best was 5.95 @ 113 mph. That was with a Pro Systems 1040 gas carb. We put a APD 1040 gas carb on it yesterday. Went 5.86 @ 116 mph. That's almost as quick as the alcohol carb. I was very impressed with the APD carb. And that's with zero tuning. Straight out of the box.

Wow!! Congratulations, never hear of that to often.
You must feel like a rocket it tied to you when you take the green

Deadcarrescue has a brand new video out walking a retiring yard, I would say junk yard but he has a lot of low mileage insurance claimed cars, a perfect old AMX in that video with phone and email address.. it's a perfect body, looks to be a 69 maybe

Nice! A 3 mph gain is pretty good!
The car is .09 quicker and almost 3 mph faster. I don't understand how there could be so much difference between the two carbs. The apd must atomize the fuel better. We did no tuning on the APD carb. On the Pro Systems carb we had went up and down on the jetting to fine the sweet spot.

Very cool! Do us a favor....well at least me and refresh our (my) memory on the car's setup.

I remember hearing the Pro Systems carbs were ridiculously fat outa-the-box.

that's awesome. making some power at 116 mph

pro systems are junk, i had one and fought it till i had enough and gave it away. lost $900 giving it away but i didn't care at that point.

That’s an impressive gain. Are you sure you didn’t bump the distributor and put 4 more degrees in it?
Any chance you could do a side by side or above shot of the carbs showing us the boosters and venturis?

I went round and round with Patrick last year. After spending $2500 on two carbs I scrapped them both and went APD.

I'll see what I can do. The Pro System carb is a reworked Holley with his "Venom" metering blocks. The APD is a completely APD designed carb. They design every piece on it and it's 100% billet. I think.

The APD is the black one.

I bet that APD flows way more than advertised. Or conversely, the pro systems probably flows way less than advertised. The venturi on the APD looks larger.

What block are you using? Thanks.
