New distributor not working

Ok so I bought one of the skip white hei distributors hooked it on and fired it the engine fires right up but for about a 1 second then dies using the throttle does not change anything what could be causing this.If the spark plug wire were not on right would it cause this.

It may only be getting 12 volts at start and not run. Verify power when the key is in the run or on position.

That is correct...need 12 volts to start..12 volts to run.....turn the key to on...and see if the coil has 12 volts..

Sound like you did not bypass the ballast resistor.....................

Details............how did you wire it up.

Check power to the ignition, key on? key in start?

Fixed it thats what it was im golden now
