Hello! I am honored to be a part of your A Body group.Having just picked up this 74 Duster, I am excited to learn more about it on my way to bringing her back to tip top shape...I am sure I won't be able to do it without help from you all here....I was drawn to her by the red with black vinyl top,and that it is pretty much un molested/original.....and how plain it is...manual steering manual brakes,3 on the tree transmission....no AC.......hopefully someone can help me decipher fender tag...
Thanks for having me....
Dave

Welcome and great project. Appears to be solid too?

I don’t think I’ve seen a fender tag with so few options? That must have been one of the lowest prices cars on that dealers lot when sold new???

Thanks! I think you're right! That's what drew me to it......very bare bones

Actually I think that top line is
FE5 U G51 END
That would be Rally Red Upper door frame, inside hood release

That's called a stripper model and I would love to have it because it's got three pedals...

Bottom row is actually:
E22 D14 VL29 B4G 1406**

E22 is 225 1 bbl
D14 is 3 spd manual
VL29 is Valiant, low price class, 2 door coupe
B is 225 1 bbl
4 is year
G is assembly plant
1406** is sequential number.

I haven't found many past 73 that had pedals in them with no hump(3 on tree) that was mainly a 60's thing....great 4 speed stroker project!!!!

Thanks for the info, I'm even more confused...my car has black bench seat which I know is easily swapped, but the car was supposedly a one owner car and original so not sure, and my hood release is not inside

What's a fair asking price for a running slant six and 3 speed?
Anything over scarp price is always salesmanship, Slant or Hemi!
Actually it all about condition. Just like R/E is all about location.
Will you want to do the body/paint and can? The a straight rus free car is worth so much more to most guys. Just as example as to the thought process.

Bare Bones stripper models don't get no luxury extras
