New House

lookin good! How many "high impact" colors where in the house? It look alot beter than it did, way to go. When are you going to put a cuda in the garage?

Hey man. I like what your doing. Those HI impact colors were an eye popper, and hurter. WOW! What were they thinking?!?!?!?

I like your bench. I did the same thing in my garage. Had to do it. Low cost wood cut to spec. I just took a 4X8 plywood sheet and cut it in half for the table and back board. Cut up some 4X4 for legs and started screwing them together. Spare plywood was used a a renforcement to the legs.

Whatever you do, don't get rid of that Avacado green tub. I hear those colors are coming back!

Looks much better, only now the lady has a blank canvas to add her "accent walls".

Joe

P.S. from the collection in the first shots I thought there wasn't a garage!!!!

I can sympathize dude, I've just finished my basement, painted two bedrooms, getting ready to start on the third bedroom. Then it's on to the bathroom (groan). Ah, the joys of home ownership. My Scamp is feeling neglected out there all alone in the garage.

Congratulations on your new real estate! You`ve got to be excited! The house has a lot of character and I like that fence in the back too!

Thanks everyone.

Its been a pretty interesting ride so far. Almost everything thats wrog with the house is really cosmetic. New windows, Furnace, AC, WH in 2001 - nice strong house, built in 1926. Slightly depressed neighborhood that should be receiving about 200 $300k condos 4 blocks away in the next 5-10 years.

So I feel like I can play and realize my return on investment down the road.

The Workbench was something I wanted to build myself. Its not quite done yet. I plan to add a 3/4 in Plywood on top to really make it solid. I also plan to trim it out a bit and make it look a little more finished. Of course, I need to add my vise and bench grinder, wall shelves, etc.

The colors. Its kinda funny. When I was looking for houses I came to refer to this one as the crayola house. All I can say is this... They guy had 2 teens in rehab. I wonder who chose the colors :)

Well, we’ve started the yard and are about to install the deck and sliding glass door.

The back yard is / was alot of clay and not graded well at all. We started to fix that with a little bobcat today. We are also widening the driveway. Here are some photos to start.

This is the yard as it was when we got here:

Even found an old Railroad Rail buried

Then we got rained out and had to stop work…

We still have to lay topsoil and rototill the yard, plan seed and an erosion mat. Should be quite nice for next year.

Here you see all the lumber and the new sliding glass door, just waiting to be installed. Unfortunately, Villa Park, IL is very slow at issuing building permits, and it looks like I might not be able to start the deck for another week.

What I wanna know is - where the hell did my work bench go???!!! Actually, if you lok closely thats insulation to insulate the rest of the garage, and a bunch of new shop lights that wil be installed.

What a mess though huh?

Oh, got my temporary office set up. Still refinishing the woodwork, thats a harder job then I thought….. But, not too bad. This is the room that had red painted paneling on it.

Hopefully, the landscapers can finish tomorrow. The pavers are suppose to be here either tomorrow or the day after to handle the driveway.

Ill post more soon….

No wonder I have not seen your postings here as of late. Busy as heck I see. Good job, keep it up.
