Hello Everyone,
My name is Jim and I have a 1971 Plymouth Scamp that I bought from my uncle (when I was 14 and didn't have a license yet with Dad's help), who bought it from the original owner. My Dad was a Mopar guy, so its always been Mopar or No car for me my whole life. Numbers matching car is out of California and has never seen a Midwest winter or salt. Needless to say after many years of dreaming of doing some stuff to the car, I'm finally getting around to it. I've already gleaned a ton of info from this site, so Thank You to all who have posted. It's a 318 car, with 904 transmission, 8 3/4 rear with AC and drum brakes. I've already rebuilt the rear axle and transmission, and upgraded to disc brakes. Pulled the 318 and plan to put a 1970 340 in that's been rebuilt. I'm hoping to get it all done by end of summer if the stars align. Here is a picture before starting on it. Thanks everyone.
Jim

Welcome! Love seeing another Scamp getting some attention.

Great looking car. You will have a lot of fun with it. Unless you are wanting a lot of power, stay with the 318. 318s are great motors. You can leave it stock with a 2 barrel, and it will run reliably forever. Or you can warm it up a bit and melt the tires. Either way, I would consider keeping the 318.
Plus, the picture of your car is in front of a Freddy's Hamburger place. Freddy's is my favorite burger place.

Welcome from KC. I've always liked the Scamps. They are the combo of two of my favorite cars!
