I am installing a new TQ at the same time as my 340. How much Trans fluid does this thing need before i install it? And do I even have to add trans fluid?
Makes sense that I do.
Also..since the 340 is internally balanced...and the harmonic balancer is neutral balanced..should I assume the TQ does NOT need to be balanced also? There are no weights on the outside. Its a Hughes Street Master 2200-2500 stall. You guys have help this far. I also marked 2 of the flexplate to TQ bolts so I have the right bolt pattern.

pour some fluid into converter just so it has some fluid in it...

i have put them in dry...never hurt anything...but some fluid would lubricate thing inside converter....
start engine up in neutral so trans is pumping fluid..

correct...internally balanced einges do not need weighted converter or flexplates..

yes put at lest 4or5 qts. in it and i like to get rear wheels of the ground and start in N and make sure the cunverter is lined up with the pump so you dont brack the pump. thats if evry thing is new...or just one in the tq.
