Hey, check this out. From one Kaw man to another. Vintage stuff...

A bit dreamy but true. The Z1, your bike broke like 43 records... my 1000 is just a bit over 1/10th better, lol!

Micky 29mm smoothbores? That'll do it for a 900 unless you went radical with flat slides but I'm guessing that was before your time old man. :toothy10:

The biggest gap I've had is between my ears and.... wait, theres women on here.... :glasses9:

Nope they were 32mm's, got them off a couple snowmobiles that got trashed and had to remake the intake blocks to fit them, I worked in a bike/sled shop as a teenager then off and on in later years to help out.

Back in the day there was a Kawi shop called Rocky Mountain Motorcyle run by this big guy who one day at the Calgary drag strip handed me my *** after stomping my "well worked over" 750 triple with his "more than well worked over" new 900. I saw the light that day.

These guys take me back to my pub crawlin days.................

These bikes eat venturi! I've got mick 28's on mine now but am looking foward to a 10.25:1 1075cc kit and some 34mm flats. Andrews, sadly, no longer makes cams for the big kaws, but there a few who still do.

Phew......Just got caught up on all the videos.
Everything from the Skynard bad boys to Zep live at Madison Square 1973 !!!!!!

Don't know where the cams came from, they came through that Kawi shop in Calgary. I think the original 900 carbs were 26mm Keihan's, I think I spelled that right, I know the triples all used Mikuni's. The original 900 carbs had that atmos. press. sensitive diaphragm in them so with altitude changes the fuel mixture wouldn't change much, yea CV carbs.

Sorry just checked they were 28 mikuni's

Got some good Canadian rye going right now, just made the switch from Rum.These guys don't get enough recognition.................

The original Z1 900's did not have CV carbs although that was a popular improvement. 8) CV carbs are cool but I still prefer manual slides and tuning them, but that's my opinion and we both know what opinions are worth! :bootysha: The Z1's had 28's, known by their "flat top" configuration but Mama Kaw dropped that to the "oval top" 26's for both the 900 and 1000 versions due to consumer complaints of "Lightswitch throttle response". :read2: Keheins were the CV carbs. Great carbs when tuned correctly and can give better top end and overall response but require the later model intake boots and for best performance, port matching. But then again, that's just in my experience, I'm no expert ;)

Happy New Year Waggs!!!

LOL! I suppose I could just go inside but then I'd be that further away from my Duster, Kaw and my shop. So it's a little chilly, big deal. I've got a bit of that Fireball Canadian Whiskey keeping me warm too!

Maybe once spring comes around, I'd be more inclined for some April Wine!

Happy 2011!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
