I picked up this nice deep sump trans pan for cheap from Morris 4x4 center online. Made by RT offroad. Appears to be powdercoated and heavy gauge steel. Comes with everything including filter, rubber gasket and a drain plug. It's going on sonny's 42RH when I rebuild it. Cost me $55 shipped. Dont go by their application chart as it shows to fit only jeeps lol I ordered it to fit a 1992 jeep wrangler or something. We all know it's a standard A904 pan shape lol. To the mods I posted it here to get max exposure to members who might need one.

I looked on their website and ended up calling them. I have one on the way for my 87 d100 thanks for posting this up.
 
Absolutely, if you hunt around on some of the off road and truck sites, you can score some good deals on the strangest things- I've gotten deep pans like you say, and even pot coupler rebuild kits (around $10) from those type of sites.
