Nice Job AC... ?

Guess they forgot that the AC Pump needs a drive Pulley.

Nice clean engine compartment, even though the AC will not work.

So that's a motor and compressor? It looks tiny. Being able to remote the compressor would solve a lot of problems with retrofit AC installations; no brackets or pulleys to align. I wonder what the current draw is?

The next thing we need is a flywheel alternator--you know--like a Model T, the first car with "coil near plugs" ignition?

LOTS. I think there was an ad for an aftermarket system on here some time back, peak was 60A

Kidding, right?
It's a 12v compressor, no drive pulley. Just electrical.
Not surprised. It's just a smaller version of the hermetic compressors I quote and sell all day long....

And what's in dang near every condensing unit in America.

What's surprising (to me) is that it took so long for someone to think of this, and if I were to guess, I would say it started with e-vehicles.

That's interesting. I'm skeptical, though. I'd have to see one in operation to believe it.

They work fantastic. Pull a lot of power though. Our 50yo ammeters and 50amp alternators will throw a fit.

I bet they would. Unless of course, you wired in a stand alone circuit. I like the theory. A lot. It would be really beneficial for smaller engines like the slant sixes.

60A at 12V is about 1hp. You can get it from the crank or the alternator, but it's gotta come from somewhere. Easier installation is what I see.

Yeh, while some of these guys run electric water/ fuel pumps, electric steering, big stereos, on and on, now you're talking LOTS of belt and shaft load. And that might be about 1hp, but that is ELECTRICAL power. You must figure the inefficiency of the alternator and belt friction. Likely a lot closer to 2hp overall.
