no dash lights

It's not an A-Body, but my son bought a 95 Dodge Ram truck. The dash lights are out including the check engine light. The fuse is good and the headlight switch is new. I replaced the bulbs also.
What should I check to make this work?

I dont know where the dimmer reostat in that truck is but it could be the problem in the illumination bulbs. The check engine lamp is on a totally different circuit like any other indicator lamp.
A friends Jeep would loose dash lights from time to time. Once it got to blowing the fuse quick as it was pushed in we found the wiring behind the aftermarket stereo was blowing that fuse. Hope this helps
 
Thanks, The dimmer is on the headlight switch. I replaced it with a new one. I guess I'll take everything apart this week and check it all again.
I thought about going to a salvage yard and replacing the complete assembly. Maybe something has cracked and not allowing the current to flow. I know I had that issue on my Barracuda.
Just a thought.
