Just thought, why didn't Mopar build a 67^ wagon. A boxy Dart or Valiant wagon would be cool. tmm

I guess Chevy didn't produce ChevyII wagons after 67.

I believe they made one in Australia. I saw a photo of one once. It would be cool to have a 2dr Swinger wagon...

Maybe cuz them young uns was gittin bigger so paw needed a B body wagon to git em in!!! Jus sayin!!.....

There was a '67 Plymouth Fury wagon. My buddy in high school had one with a 383 in the late '70's, drove it like it was a GTX!

What I read was that Chrysler/Mopar decided that they would "push" their station wagon customers into the B-Body wagons of Plymouth & Dodge by eliminating the
Dart & Valiant wagons for '67 using pricing. They figured that the lowest-priced, base Coronet & Belvedere wagons for '66 (and '67 for that matter) were just a few dollars more than the Valiant V-200s and Dart 270 wagons, so they they thought they would cut the Valiant & Dart line down and try to increase sales of B-Body wagons starting in '67. It does kind of makes sense, but I still regret that the A-Body wagons were discontinued for '67!
Also, Valiant convertibles were eliminated for '67 (went to the new Barracuda body,) and Dart only had ONE convert for '67...the GT. Dart 270 convertibles were
dropped for '67. I always like to say that '66 was the last great year for a very full line of Darts.

Ha! There was a group at my HS that would drive around in one of those or hang out around it.
They were given "The Family" as a nickname.

Here's a cool one. They called it the Vista Daytona Challenger.

According to Plymouth's late-1966 'Press Release', a lack of excitement in the 'small compact'
Valiant Station Wagon.

A 50% drop in 1966 Sales for the Valiant 'compact' V-100 and V-200 Station Wagon from 1965.

For 66 the Valiant wagon sheet metal was pretty much carry-over, it was unchanged since '63 (except to fit '66 style tail lights).

I'd like to join an E-body forum and start a thread documenting my conversion of this "Super-Chally-Vista-Wagon".......just to watch them scream and moan and rant and rip their clothes like in the Bible. LOL

Interesting that in 65, the Dart beat the nova and knocked on the door of the fairlane.

66 was a body style change for the nova (but not the Dart/Valiant), which probably accounted for the sales surge.

Also interesting to speculate is the Dart/Valiant body style change for 67, produced a similar design to the 66/67 nova, and may have enjoyed a similar sales spike.

Corprate bean counters, Over the years Ma Mopar dumped some of their best sellers.
I never understood the thinking. Instead of giving the buying public what they want,, they make cars they want us to accept and hope we buy.Don't even want to get into what the government forces on us...

Another thing about the last year for the wagon is they did not completely change
it between 65 and 66, they did not go all the way with the 66 wagon.
Rear quarters kept the spears and wrap around bumpers in 66.
I think if they did it like the 66 Valiant/BArracuda it would be very cool :glasses7:

A member here drew this for me and I had it framed and then took a
picture of it and did the wagon in paint on my computer :glasses7:

In late-1966 {1967 Production Year} > Chrysler was 'Late-to-the-Gate'
and 'lost' a Fleet Sales Order to the U.S. Government/Military {Army}.

The Fleet Sales Order was for 9000 'Station Wagons'. Ford moved in, and
scapped up the Order.
