Non-profit...

What is a non-profit organization. Ernie's quilting guild is a non-profit. They had a business meeting today and she was telling me that they are planning next years quilt show already....talking about holding it in the church where they have there weekly meetings. Mentioned having vendors but because the church is a non-profit organization they can not....I be so confused....The guild is selling tickets for a raffle quilt and talking about donating the proceeds to a few different charities...Proceeds? Non profit? Huh?

That must be the church rules. I am part of a non-profit 501(c)3 organization and we have vendors at events. We can own and hold property. We have money in the bank.
