Numbers matching?

1967 Barracuda Formula S. VIN plate checks out. Fender plate has been decoded too. The info on the side of the block says 2806030-4 273 10-26. If the the 10-26 is a casting date, it too matches the fender plate. So, what will tell me if this is a numbers match car?

The last 6 numbers of the vin should also be on the engine block.

Well the engine and trans won't be stamped with a partial vin# in 1967

So the best you can do is date code the parts and it sounds like that is being done. Other than that you might verify the the number on the core support match the vin# or sales order number, not sure on 67 but probably the sales order number. Those core support numbers are hard to read sometimes it takes scraping off the paint.

IMO unless it's a Formula S car or factory big block car the matching numbers is probably not a big deal unless it is a ultra clean low mile car.
